Bushev Evgeny Valerievich

Bushev Evgeny Valerievich, born November 9, 1973, resident of Chelyabinsk.

He was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony for committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organizing the activities of an extremist organisation") in connection with his membership in a community of Jehovah's Witnesses banned in Russia. On April 25, 2024, the Chelyabinsk Regional Court commuted the sentence to 6 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony. The criminal case was opened on August 24, 2022.

He was under a written personal recognisance (an obligation not to leave the city) since September 9, 2022, and was taken into custody in the courtroom on November 7, 2023.
